Professional Manual Aneroid Blood Pressure Monitors

Manual aneroid or column-type blood pressure monitors remain the gold standard in clinical medicine due to their robustness, their independence from batteries and their accuracy when the auscultatory technique is mastered. Used for several decades, they are the standard for medical training and the go-to tool for training in auscultatory methods of blood pressure measurement.

Types and characteristics of manual blood pressure monitors

The aneroid sphygmomanometer uses an aneroid capsule to convert the pressure in the cuff into the deflection of a pointer on a graduated circular dial. Its compact size and lack of reliance on electricity make it ideal for home visits and pre-hospital emergencies. The mercury column sphygmomanometer, although gradually being phased out for environmental reasons, is still considered the gold standard for blood pressure measurement. Our mercury-free models with a replacement column offer the same benefits with enhanced safety.

Calibration and maintenance

The accuracy of an aneroid sphygmomanometer gradually deteriorates with years of use and mechanical shocks. Periodic calibration – recommended every 6 to 12 months depending on frequency of use – is essential to maintain measurement reliability. Our blood pressure monitors are supplied with an initial calibration certificate. Calibration kits and zero-reset services are available to extend the service life of your devices and ensure their metrological compliance.
